Using the Tool

How do I go fullscreen?

Click the Live Preview area or the "Launch Screen" button on the tool. You can also press F11 on your keyboard to toggle fullscreen. On mobile, use your browser's fullscreen option.

How do I change the screen color?

Click any color swatch in the "Choose Your Color" panel — White, Black, Pink, Yellow, Red, Orange, Cyan, Purple, Gray, or Zoom Light. You can also use the Custom color picker to select any hex color you want.

How do I exit fullscreen mode?

Press the Escape key or F11 on your keyboard to exit. On mobile, tap the screen and use your browser's back button or navigation gesture.

What is the Pixel Grid feature?

The Pixel Grid overlays a contrast-adjusted grid on your screen color. Toggle it on in the Live Preview panel, then use the cell size slider (8px–120px) to control grid density. The grid color automatically adjusts to contrast with your selected screen color.

How do I download a color screen image?

Select your color (and optionally enable the pixel grid), then choose a resolution from the dropdown and set your width and height. Click "Download" to save a PNG file. The filename includes the color name, resolution, and whitescrn.com.

Can I use a custom color?

Yes. Click the "Custom" color picker swatch to open a color picker where you can choose any color. The hex value is shown in real-time in the Live Preview panel.

Color Screen Pages

What is the Black Screen used for?

The Black Screen is ideal for OLED and AMOLED dead pixel detection, backlight bleed testing, battery saving on OLED devices, and screen cleaning. A pure black display makes any stuck or bright pixel immediately visible.

What is the Pink Screen used for?

The Pink Screen is popular for photography fill lighting (adds a warm rosy tone), streaming and video call backgrounds, display color uniformity testing, and creative aesthetics for content creators.

What is the Yellow Screen used for?

The Yellow Screen provides warm golden lighting for photography, helps with eye strain reduction in low-light environments, and is useful for monitor warm-tone calibration and design color reference.

What is the Red Screen used for?

The Red Screen is used for night vision preservation (red light has the least impact on dark-adapted eyes), red channel display testing, photography creative lighting, and dark-environment work.

What is Zoom Lighting?

Zoom Lighting uses a warm white color (#FFF5E1) to turn your monitor into a soft, diffused front light source for video calls and livestreams. It improves webcam exposure and facial clarity without needing a ring light or any extra equipment.

Use Cases

Can I use WhiteScrn for photography lighting?

Absolutely. Any screen color works as a portable light source. White for bright fill light, warm yellow for golden-hour tones, pink for rosy portrait fills, and red for creative color effects — all without extra hardware.

How do I use it for display testing?

Go fullscreen with a solid color and examine your display for dead pixels (black screen), stuck pixels (white or colored screen), backlight bleed (black screen in a dark room), and color uniformity (any single color).

Can I use it to help clean my screen?

Yes. A bright solid-color screen (white or yellow works best) makes dust, fingerprints, smudges, and micro-scratches clearly visible, so you can clean your display thoroughly without missing spots.

How does Zoom Lighting improve video calls?

A fullscreen warm-white display provides front illumination for your face, allowing your webcam to reduce digital gain (noise). This results in a sharper, cleaner image. Position your screen directly in front of you and increase brightness gradually.
